It seems that rain has hit Ako with somewhat of a vengeance. Coming from Australia, where it pretty much only rains in winter and early spring, it's still bizarre to have to deal with the possiblity of rain at any time during the year. I didn't realise it could rain this much in spring though, as winter here is actually quite dry and most of the rain seems to fall during the monsoon season of May to July. So needless to say I was rather surprised to wake up to the sound of rain this morning. I didn't think too much of it, and ran downstairs to check on my computer. It was sitting in the Windows XP install screen just needing a few things to finish up the installation, so I quickly set that going while I got ready. When I came out of the shower it had booted into a brand spanking new shiny Windows desktop, w00t! All is good.
Well, all was good, until I left the house to go to school! Which is when I realised that the rain was actually pretty damn heavy. I was wearing my rain-resistant jacket and thanks to the Trouser Problem, rain-resistant trousers too, but I still got fairly soaked. Hooray for unnatural fibres, though - I dried off pretty fast. The rain is a bit of a nuisance, especially since it's scheduled to go through until lunchtime tomorrow. If it keeps up a decent heavy fall, I don't think I'll be going into Himeji or playing badminton tonight. I never used to mind getting wet, but in Japan it can be a real inconvenience, especially if you're travelling. I'm off out for lunch tomorrow, so hopefully it's not too heavy when I'm riding to the train station, hehe.
In other news, I actually had a class today! It wasn't as much fun as I thought it might have been, but I was so chuffed to even have a class that it didn't really matter, hehe. Being a ni-nensai class, it was always going to be a challenge, and with the combination of end of year excitement and a naturally genki class it made the kids really hard to manage. I got through it though, and we had some good fun with charades. I'm really glad Ishino-sensei and I chose that activity. Anything else would probably have kept the kids quieter (we had to go apologise to the surrounding classes afterwards, but it turned out that they'd been just as noisy, hehe) but they probably wouldn't have done the work and it would have been really boring. As it was, the kids did mostly pay attention to the activity, and we got some classic actions for words like alien, banana and cheese, hehe. Sweet. I'll definitely be using charades again, although it might need some modifications to make it work a little better in such genki classes :)
