My weekend turned out pretty much the way I thought it would, which was great - nice and relaxing. I really needed the rest! Despite getting a lot of sleep on Friday night, I was still a bit tired so decided not to head out to bike. I was heading into Himeji in the afternoon for the first Ultimate Frisbee session for the year, and felt it'd be a bit much to hit the trails beforehand. Turned out to be a good plan, as frisbee was really tiring! Heaps of fun, though. When I arrived at the park where we were going to play, I was really surprised to see about 30 people there. They were pretty much all playing too, which meant it was the best turnout ever. I suppose people were getting out and about to try to recover after winter, haha. That, and the weather was perfect.
So we all started playing and had enough people to form three teams. People had come down from Tajima and across from Osaka to have a bit of a super session, and it worked really well. I was pretty rusty at the start, but got a lot better as the afternoon went on. I found my fitness had improved a lot since the last game I'd played last year, despite the winter. So I was pretty happy about that - I guess riding to school every day helps. Eventually, after about 2 hours of playing, one of the really good players jumped in and gave us some coaching. I learnt a lot from him and our team did a lot better by following his tips. Good times.
After the game I wandered back through Himeji with one of my friends, Kieran, from Aioi. He wanted to get some photos developed so I stopped off to grab a coffe with him while he waited. It was good to chat to him, as I don't often get the opportunity. I also called Nate to see what he was doing at night, as there was talk of a party in Osaka. He said he was heading off to it, and I said I might head out too. By the time Kieran and I got back to the train, though (and we ran all the way from the ticket gates to the train and got in just as the doors were boarding, hahaha) it was getting pretty late. I wasn't back in Ako until 8pm, so had one hour to get home, shower, change and get back to the station. As it would have to be an all nighter, I decided against it and just went down to Saiyon with Kaz instead. It was good to see him, but I was so tired that I had to leave at around 11pm.
Today was just really laid back. I did some spring cleaning, which took up most of the day, ironically. It'd been a while since I'd cleaned and my tatami was in desperate need of vacuuming. My love for tatami has diminshed somewhat as I discovered that over winter, the tatami under my mattress had rotted slightly. Damn stuff, so temperamental and hard to take care of. Luckily it wasn't anything that the vacuum couldn't take care of, but I had to wash the mattress cover and put the actual mattress outside in the sun to air off. Bah. Anyway, I finished up at around 7:30pm, had a well earnt beer and then headed to Paone to grab dinner. And that's about it. A nice bit of rest and recovery for a change, hehe.
