A JET's journey through Ako, Japan...
New Computer

So I ended up buying a new computer :) Hehe. I figure that now I've made committments to badminton etc, I won't be able to let myself become a computer game junkie again. Huzzah! Here's a quick list of the parts I got in the end, if you're interested...

CPU: Intel Core2 Quad Q6600
Motherboard: Abit IP35 Pro
RAM: 2GB Kingston HyperX Low Latency DDR2-PC6400
Graphics: 512MB Leadtek nVidia GeForce 8800GTS G92
Monitor: 22" LG L226WA-BN
Case & PSU: Thermaltake Soprano DX VE7000BWS + SilentKing Alpha 500W
Hard Drive: 750GB Western Digital SE16 SATA2
Optical Drive: LiteOn DH-20A3S DVD+-RW
Sound Card: Creative SoundBlaster XFi Xtreme-Gamer
Speakers: Logicool X-530 5.1
UI: Logitech G11 Keyboard + Microsoft "Habu" Laser Mouse

Unfortunately, as with all good motherboards, the IP35 Pro is really hard to get. While all the other parts could be here by the end of this week/beginning of the next, the motherboard will take about 4 weeks. Pah. Well, at least it gives me time to save up the money needed, hehe. And there's by far enough in the meantime to keep me busy - badminton, Yuki Matsuri and Hadaka Matsuri to name a few...good times!

Sweet looking setup - about how much that set you back? I've been using laptops for a while (Currently an ASUS G1S) and while it's a nice machine I shudder at what I could've gotten for the same price :P

Hey buddy! Hehe yeah, it took me a lot of research to come up with that list, lol. I'm pissed about the motherboard being the thing that's going to hold my order back, but such is life!

Hmmm it was about 250,000 yen overall. Not too bad. Parts aren't that cheap in Japan, really. Surprisingly, I could probably have built the same machine for not much more in Australia. I guess the US is the source of the ultra cheap cheap :)

*nods* gaming laptops are always premium priced, hehe. Desktops rock, but of course, they're not as portable - especially not on a bike. Can't see myself going to any LANs any time soon :D
